The act of entertaining; agreeable occupation of the mind; diversion; amusement: The daily crossword puzzle is an entertainment for many.

Entertaiment can be seen as an activity that spans many different media – for example, the famous story of Scheherazade in the Persian professional storytelling tradition has been adapted to an orchestral work by Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, a film by Pasolini, and even innovative video games. It is understood objectively, communicates between text and audience from an external stimulus, off ers pleasure, requires the presence of an audience, and is performed passively.

What is considered entertainment for one group may be a form of abuse for another.
