Entertaiment

Entertaiment

Entertaiment is an activity that provides diversion or amusement. It may be created by individuals for their own amusement, as when they spontaneously invent a game; it may be provided by a group or institution, as when a theatre puts on a show; or it may be consumed passively, as when one watches a television show or movie. See also amusement, recreation, and sport. The word comes from the medieval Latin intertenere, with the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere, based on the Indo-European root ten, which means “stretch.” Click the buttons to find related words.
