About Entertaiment
Something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement. A clown at a kid’s birthday party, a Broadway show, or a stadium rock concert are all forms of entertainment. The word derives from the Old French entretenement, which is related to the hospitable act of entertaining guests. We use the words theatrical and visual to describe entertainment that involves a performance; audio, for things you listen to; and interactive, for games like puzzles or a social media feed. A powerful example of entertainment is the story of Scheherazade, from a Persian professional storytelling tradition, that has inspired multiple musical compositions, film adaptations, and innovative video games.
